I was trying to simultaneously run two copies of PP, with different DBs, on the same w10 box.
Individually they work. Together I get “could not launch the product because the assoc workspace is currently in use by another eclipse application”. Copy1 was originally installed in its own folder (was trying for a “portable version”). Copy2 is a full duplicate in a separate folder.
Is this actually feasible? If so, how? Thanks for your consideration.
I’m new-ish to PP. I stuffed my existing portfolio into PP (while maintaining my prev tracking mech/method elsewhere) and have also added other speculative/research assets. Obj: see how PP works in practice &learn.
Now want to rigorously separate the real stuff (to track/evaluate/recordkeep etc & discontinue prev system), while keeping the imaginary items with notes/thoughts etc separate but processible by the same sw.
Does the “two files in one instance” approach allow them to be fully separated eg so charts/tables from one are never affected by data from the other? And indeed they remain as2separate savable computer files. Or would I perhaps be better putting my Copy2 in a VM?
You’re thinking much to complicated. Just create two data files. If you’re in the first one, just go to the menu file → new and save the second file. You could open them in different tabs in the instance. They are completely separated.
Maybe just begin to read the manual. The English one is quite good.
