@Sn1kk3r5 Yes, see above quote
Indeed, sorry overlooked.
Is it connected to a PCIe slot that is running at 4x?
My Dell XPS 13" laptop’s PCIe slot only supports 1x.
So this is still going on? I haven’t tried the latest version but I assume they haven’t fixed it. This should definitely be faster for what it is and for a computer that’s pretty powerful. It makes me just want to continue using investing.com website to track stuff evne tho im missing some funds I like.
Then why don’t you contact the manufacturer of your antivirus stuff and ask them to scan faster.
Go ahead, they’ll be happy.
That is the problem, other antivirus are quicker. I don’t know why this is so noticeable here (all other apps - non-Java - are not affected), but on my fastest pc (only on with defender) first start >40 seconds, on other older pc’s 3-5 sec.
Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Manage settings → Add or remove exclusions
I added C:\Users[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Programs\PortfolioPerformance, then first start the same 3-5 sec.
Before you add this exclusion you can test the effect by disabling the Real-time protection complete. But don’t forget to reenable it.
I have not tried to define the exclusion more precisely, for me thats enough.
But be aware, you are removing the protection for the directory
Haven’t tried yet, but what are the odds this software comes with a surprise if we disable it? Im not using any other antivirus btw.
Which path exactly did you add?
Depending on you OS you add the path to your PP application.
I confirm now, adding PP to the windows defender as exclusion will speedup the PP start
can you provide more details on how to do that in defender? cheers
- Open Windows Security

-
- Access Manage Settings
- Under Virus & threat protection settings, click Manage settings.
- Find Exclusions
-
Scroll down to Exclusions.
-
Click Add or remove exclusions.
-
- Add a Folder Exclusion
-
Click Add an exclusion.
-
Choose Folder.
-

-
The folder will now appear in the exclusions list.

Windows Defender will skip scanning this directory during real-time and scheduled scans.

that definitely does the trick, thanks.
