After Hours Quotes and Deposit Account Management

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently set up a portfolio in PP with European ETFs and bonds, as well as some US stocks. I have a couple of questions regarding my setup:

After Hours Quotes

I’m using Yahoo Finance as the data source for most of my assets. I’ve noticed that during after hours trading, the quotes don’t update in PP, even though Yahoo Finance does display after hours prices. Is there a way to configure PP to also update security prices outside of regular trading hours?

Managing Deposit Accounts

My second question is about my approach to managing deposit accounts. My deposit account in PP corresponds to my personal bank account, which also contains all my daily transactions (debits and credits).

Once a week, I create either a deposit or a removal transaction that, net of the operations derived from securities (purchases/sales/dividends), brings the total value of the deposit in line with my actual bank account balance.

Is this the correct way to operate? Am I creating any issues with portfolio performance calculations?

I’ve done some testing and noticed that before and after a removal, the performance values remain exactly the same. The only value that changes is the “Performance Neutral Transfer.”

Would appreciate any feedback on whether my approach is sound or if there’s a better practice I should follow.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Regarding quotes, you can make use of various sources. When they provide a json feed chances are high to use them.

Regarding cash accounts. It‘s up to you, when working with buy and sell a cash account is needed. So for a buy you need to have cash on your account.

If you prefere not to manage a cash account (which btw doesn’t need to reflect your real bank cash account) you can work with deliveries.

Search a little trough the forum and/or the manual, it has been described a thousand times.

Thank you for your response!

I’ll look for information about json feeds and the different options for managing deposit accounts in the forum and manual.

I have one more question: what is the correct method for creating a transaction for a bond where the purchase price includes accrued interest? Currently, I’ve been multiplying the bond price by the quantity, adding the accrued interest, subtracting the withholding tax on the accrued interest, and dividing the total by the quantity. But if there’s a specific field for accrued interest, perhaps the calculation of the loading price would be more precise.

This is because with my current approach I’m only integrating the accrued interest at purchase and not the interest that accumulates before the coupon payment date.

There is no native build in feature for bonds

In the manual you’ll find 2 possible ways how you can track bonds.
Ultimately it’s up to you which way you prefer. Some people did discover own ways for bonds.
