Widget performance (Yearly) Returns Heat Map has an error in the geometric mean: turning on “entire portfolio” data series influences the mean. This means that the “entire portfolio” values are included when calculating the geometric mean. Like using the sum of the individual values, multiplying by 2, and then dividing by the number of values +1 (from the sum).
When reporting a possible issue, please give a detailed description, preferably including screenshots.
I still don’t see the problem here. It doesn’t make sense, yes, but it is your responsibility to choose widgets and configurations that do.
The widget calculates values you choose. When you enter each portfolio and the overall then everything get’s calculated.
If "overall"should be chooseable is debatable at this point. So this is not a bug but rather a understanding issue.
It does NOT make sense AND you do NOT see a problem.
With and or logic that seems the same as: when it makes sense you see a problem.
Just take away the minus at both sides of the equation.
I can write “The Sun revolves around the Earth” here, even though that’s factually wrong. It doesn’t mean there is any problem with the forum software, though.
It would be easier to demonstrate your point using the kommer sample file (from Help, Welcome, Samples). Even better at a specific date so others could test.
Hi @flywire,
the complain is as follows. The widget calculates no matter which data row you add.
So when you add different security accounts AND the whole portfolio the calculations are done for all.
The expectation is to ignore the entire portfolio when single security accounts are added.
I feel bad about my 21 June comment. It is off topic and about misunderstanding each other. I think my comment does not contribute to better understanding however. I’d like to do better in future, apologies if I offended anyone.
I’m keeping the 21 June comment. Part of taking responsibility.
