Handling private equity funds w/o shares

Hi all,

I would like to record capital calls and distributions for a portfolio of private equity funds that do not issue shares, where transactions are booked directly with their total amounts.

Since PP always requires entering shares × price for each transaction, do you know of any workaround to record private cash flows with their actual amounts while still keeping performance calculations accurate? I would prefer to avoid using artificial shares × price combinations in order to keep things simple (but pls let me know if it’s the only viable path)

At the moment, I am managing this issue by using a Deposit Account, where capital calls and distribution = “Transfers” and monthly positive (negative) performance is booked through “Interest” (“Interest charge”). Any suggestion? Thank you all!
