Hello,
Exporting CSV files from “Asset status” or “Title” creates a file with a space as the thousands separator.
I import in UTF8 format with a semicolon as separator. Everything is OK, except for the numbers equal to or greater than 1000, which have this space separating the thousands and which, in the CSV file, are left-framed, even though the format displays “standard number”.
In LibreOffice, any calculation with these numbers returns a #VALUE because, despite the displayed format (number), in reality the number is placed between quotation marks (“X XXX,XX”) when you click on the function wizard icon in blue.
Is it possible to set Portfolio Performance to remove this space separating thousands?
Is there a way to configure the CSV file import window? (I’ve tried many with no result).
Is there a way to set LibreOffice so that it ignores the thousands separator space? (Here again, I haven’t found any solutions).
Thank you for your feedback.
I note that the thousands separator is a dot in the first example and a space in the second.
My location is in France.
However, I can’t identify the source of the screenshots in your first message.
The little logo at the top left leads me to think that it’s PP, but I can’t see how to get to this menu … If you think that this is where I can solve my problem, please tell me how to access this menu …
Thanks for the lead …
I’ve just done a few tests as you show me above (Germany, Canada, United Kingdom, etc.) but I don’t get the same result.
Each time I try, I always get a csv file with a space as the thousands separator ???
It works better if you relaunch PP … :-))
At the end of the day, what I’m looking for is to remove the thousands separator completely, whether it’s a space, a full stop or a comma. And PP doesn’t offer this in the ‘Preferences’ …
I’m going to have to find another way.
I went to the region settings and changed the number groupings as in the screenshot above, but still no change …
Maybe the solution lies in LibreOffice?
I have exported a csv-file with fr_CA set as lang in PP. Looks like ;100;48,20500000;4 820,50;16,95;;4 803,55; in an editor.
Doubleclick on the file open the file in LibreOffice
SUPER! It’s perfect!
Thank you so much for solving my problem of more than a week.
In France, we say that “Le diable se cache dans les détails” and this is typically the case. I’d been trying to make a transformation with Anglais(Canada) and it was with Français(Canada) that I had to try. SUPER !!!
The advantage is that French(Canada) lets me use PP in French without having to change the language after each CSV export.
I’m very satisfied and I wish you a happy new year 2025.
Sorry, I do not follow. Is the solution to use French/Canada or is the solution is that Libre Office can be configured to be compatible with PP ?
PP to Libre Office works for me with French/Canada, but not with French/France.
What I have:
fr_CA PP output is opened by LibreOffice whatever LibreOffice setting France/Canada or France/France.
fr_FR PP output is not opened by LibreOffice whatever LibreOffice setting France/Canada or France/France.
Independently of my computer regional setting.
Java local for grouping is different between the two (NNBSP for French/France vs normal space for Canada.).
