How to edit a transaction?

Hello,
I’m looking for how to edit a transaction, and I can’t find it anywhere. Am I looking at it wrong or is it actually not possible to edit an operation (open and/or closed).
The “Edit” menu on a transaction in the reports only allows me to modify the parameters of the security concerned by this transaction, but that is all
Thanks

hopefully i understood your question correctly

Don’t try editing from the reports; any transactions there are just (sometimes modified) copies. For the real transactions, there is an “Edit transaction” menu entry; and “Delete”, as shown in the above screenshot by @ProgFriese.

Hello guys,

Yes, I found the “Edit operation” !
Thanks a lot

Hi, when I edit a transaction as recommended above, say for example the transaction date, the numbers don’t update automatically (the value or the new price for that date).

I always have to delete the transaction and create a new one to get the correct price and total value.

Am I doing something wrong?

@Renz
Well, a transaction is basically based on the broker accounting document. In this circumstances, an existing posting based already on shares and total value. It’s intentionally that changing the date does not alter existing details.

Would it be possible to add a setting to toggle this to automatic update in the future, for other use cases?

Perhaps that’s possible, but what would be the use case? It sounds a bit odd.

For example, I add transactions manually. If I choose the wrong date initially, I would like to change the date and the price updates to the Yahoo price and the value calculation updates.

Or if I want to change the price of the transaction (if I inputed the wrong price from my broker), have the total value update.

Essentially the same functionality when you create a new transaction, you just choose the date and all the other fields update automatically.

Pieces and total value are a given based on reality. Total value must never be calculated based on quotes from yahoo or other quite sources.

I don`t know if you are aware, but PP only stores the closing price. So if you buy intraday there might be a huge difference based on volatilty. It is always recommended to use the exact price from your broker.

Thanks I’m aware, I have created a hypothetical portfolio for myself which I’m tracking. Hence not transacting with a broker.

But even if you make an edit to the transaction (e.g. correcting an input error of shares or price from your broker), it would be great if the total value updates.
