Migrating Portfolio Performance to my new PC

Hello everyone,
I would like to know how I can transfer my Portfolio Performance portfolio to a new PC. I would like to transfer everything as-is in my new PC. Would that be possible?

Thank you in advance.

Hi @strfak,

You simply may install Portfolio-Performance on your new PC, save your Portfolio-performance file on an external USB stick or a NAS and then open this file in your new PC. Everything should be there as it was on your old PC.

Or have I misunderstood your question ?

Hello and thanks for the quick answer.
No, you got it right. This is exactly what I want to do.

When you say “save the file to a USB”, should I press “Save as” or “Export”?

I always use “save as”, state an individual file name (eventually followed by date like ‘20250529’ to indicate the version) and select the correct drive-letter (where your USB Stick is plugged in (depending on your local drive letters)).

EDIT: I forgot to mention that there may be the requirement on your new PC to (after PP installation) log-in into “Portfolio-Performance (built-in)” (help/properties) to obtain historical quotes for your securities in the future. However, I am not very familiar with this recently added feature.

ok, last question then: should I save in xml, xml compressed or AES format?

Sure?
What about settings.

What about API-Keys.

You are perfectly right, of course. The file *.settings has also to be transferred (to be found in the same directory as the pp-file, if option is marked under “properties”).

This is up to you.
