Dashboard (key/risk indicators) does not allow to select multiple accounts

Continuing the discussion from Seeing performance for individual accounts:

Hello, I wanted to see the performance for specific groups of accounts within my overall portfolio but it seems like you can’t select more than one account per indicator in the performance dashboard.
is there any way I can see the performance, let’s say, 3 of my 8 accounts lumped together?

If there isn’t really an easy fix, any suggestions? Duplicate portfolios to include only specific groups of accounts & ensure you enter (duplicate) trades in all applicable portfolios all the time?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello, it is possible with the Filter feature.

One tip : I see that you have hidden the values on your screenshot. You can do this within PP itself with the Discreet mode : View/Options/Discreet mode.

many thanks Veterini. appreciate your help. will do that next time. wasn’t aware of that feature.

excellent and thank you. i will give it a try! so thankful for having found this software. a bit of a learning curve initially but it is so much potential/flexibility (and a helpful community as well).

Regarding the ‘filter grouping’ feature, I agree that it is a little hidden.
It should be worth to have it more visible. The location where you can create it is the menu when you want to select data series. Ideally you should be able to create the filters series before.

I think it would be worth having a dedicated view on the left pane, between securities accounts and investment plan.

thank you again, Veterini. really appreciate it. I just tested the custom filter (added only my securities/cash accounts) and was then able to find it when right clicking the indicators on the dashboard. I will save a specific view for this custom filter.

I am curious with what you suggested in the thread you referenced about doing this by taxonomy… I haven’t dwelved into the concept in PP yet but have a hunch that you might be using it as a “shortcut” to custom label certain accounts, is that correct?

thank you!

this friday i am going to work on dashboard only and then create the custom views. so helpful your suggestions!

Hello watanabix, Taxonomy is how you classify your assets. Example : you may want to see the weight of your risky assets vs your non risky assets. You can create and managed them at the bottom of the left panel. There are some default example but you can create your own.
It is therefore also a way to group your data, but at a finer level than whole securities accounts.
You can then select your different classification as data series in most part of PP (you can plot the performance of your ‘risky assets’ only for example).

many thanks again! you’ve been of such a great help. i really appreciate it. i may as well use taxonomy. your example (risky vs non risky assets) gave me an idea right away.
i trade a lot of leveraged ETFs nd just a few individual stocks. i could definitely see this classification very useful in terms of performance.

Hello again.

I was trying to copy some of the features in the performance charts of KOMMER’s portfolio template, however I simply can’t find a way to add that dark grey series of “dynamic” bars (dynamic because it changes as you change the interval (D/W/M/etc) of the chart on the right top corner). The bars represemnt the performance of the entire portfolio (i am assuming it is of the entire portfolio) for the selected interval.
I was able to track down how the blue Equity line series was added (it is Asset Classes taxonomy) but that series of D/W/M/etc performance I just can’t find where it is coming from… any tips on this (they don’t look like taxonomies), please?

These (“dynamic”) dark grey performance bars show up on KOMMER performance chart both in the Standard and Simple view.

I believe the same goes for the Statement of Assets Chart (Kommer template) that has data series that I can not replicate in my portfolio, ie. Transferrals or Invested capital (since first transaction)? They don’t look like taxonomies to me, so I wonder how are they being generated.

MANY THANKS either way

Hello, in the dialog ‘Pick data series’, you have several folders : Accounts and portfolio, Common, Taxonomies, Securities.
What you are looking for are in the Common data series. This is also there that you can select Entire portfolio or Total.

You can close those different folders to quickly scroll to the one’s you want. The search bar on top of the dialog can also be used to find the data series quickly.

Hello Veterini. Thank you bery much again for your response.

Referencing the “performance chart”:

The picture below shows the series “daily” I was mentioning in my previous post, part of the Kommer portfolio. I simply cannot find it in my group “Common” of series, and I have no idea how to recreate it.

Actually, the “Common” series in the Kommer portfolio compared to the default “Common” series of a newly created portfolio look quite different. The “Entire Portfolio” series in the Kommer portfolio isn’t also part of the “Common” series in a new portfolio.

Not sure if this makes sense, that’s basically my struggle right now. I would really like to add that “daily” dynamic series to my portfolio.

Thank you either way.

Hello watanabix,

“daily” is only available in the Performance Chart (Y axis in %). Not in the Statement of Assets chart. When you see the long list of common (delta etc) you are in the Statement of Assets Chart (Y axis in EUR or your main currency).

you will find “daily” in the green chart of the picture. It should be there for any file, kommer or not kommer.
Sometimes, daily change its name to weekly, monthly etc depending on the Aggregation period that you choose on the top right of performance chart. If it is still not in the list, then it is because it is already currently plotted
