How future-proof is this app?

Hi everyone,

The last couple of days i am working with this app, on iPhone and MacOS. I really like it, so first of all my compliments. However, I have my doubts about the future proofness of the tool. What happens if the developer decides to stop supporting it? Lets say I want to track my portfolio for 10-15-20 years, can I still use the tool without any updates? What do you guys think about this?

Are you wondering that because the program is opensource?

Yes, I was asking it because of the open source nature. But the topic linked by another commenter answered my question. It would be great if the project can continue within the community if the developer decides to stop.

That would also be my wish … but nobody can look into the future.

But what I can say: the data is readily available - as XML or CSV. If there are better tools in the future, the time you spent do collect your data is not lost.
